Natural Therapies in Nursing and Allied Health Care

Nurses and allied health care workers providing direct client care are in a unique position to widen the options for clients by offering access to a variety of natural therapies that fit within the scope of professional practice. Natural therapies such as massage, aromatherapy, meditation, and music are being used for comfort and symptom control to complement available care.

The use of natural therapies can assist clients regain some control, adjust to their changing circumstances, and impact on various symptoms, and are therefore gaining popularity as an adjunct to the medical model of care. Principles of outlined in these workshops can also be easily integrated into various areas of health care, as well as self care.

A series of practice centred workshops for nurses
and allied health care workers

Focus will be on

  • exploring the concept of energy - improving understanding and ability to work with energy to transform self and others
  • understanding and focusing on the vibrational effects of the senses - aromas, colour, sound,touch and food for enhancing body,mind and spirit
  • integrating select natural therapies/interventions into work environment and care practice to increase harmony and fulfilment.
Selected interventions complement and are within the scope of nursingand allied health practice. Emphasis is on safe practice with integration guidelines provided.
